Z3 Lovers - I you had one wish.......

Post by BonBon »

.....how would you have wanted your OEM Z3 to be different?

I'll start:

I wish the rear window was glass and not vinyl.

Ditto .. but as that's already been said, I'd vote for a decent audio setup.

Different camshafts, so trading the bottom-end for a kick in the back at about 3000 rpm and more top end - a sports car engine rather than one from a large saloon.

Glass rear Window and a wider front grill like the Z4 still trying to work out how to change mine and why make the face lift 1.9 less powerful than the old one :?:

Heated glass rear window and about 2 inches more legroom ... that would be perfect.

Glass rear window, a smaller fatter steering wheel and a diff mount that isn't prone to self destruction.

:edit: ...I think I've just talked myself into a z4!!

V8 from M3
Better brakes
Bi-xenon headlights
Heated glass rear window
Cup holders and arm rest
Seats that don't rock
4-way adjustable steering wheel - with control buttons on steeringwheel for radio and cruise control (have bought a system from Germany though - just need to fit it!!! :nerd: )

Fully automatic open and close functioning roof - also on remotecontrol!

I love the simplicity of the Z3 - I just miss some things that could make the ownership more comfy'....

Enjoy the weekend - hope some of you have sun - it's been raining here for 1,5 says now :bawl:

If you want a glass rear window buy a hardtop. Modern convertibles are compromised in looks due to everyone wanting them to be electric and have glass rear windows. There are very few convertibles that look right and stlylish, the Z3 stands out due to its large and well proportioned hood, the side windows arent compromised either as they are in Boxsters and Z4's to name but a few. Give me a decent sized plastic screen any day over the letterbox sized glass efforts.

Smaller steering wheel but I bought it as it's retro with enough mod cons so I would leave as is in that regard.

Wider angle wing mirrors would be good plus agree on a smaller steering wheel like the Z4's.

Surely that would be X, Y, Z and time!

Reach and rake would be sufficient.

About the only thing I would change with mine is the access for changing the headlight bulbs.

I'd agree with the extra cruising gear, also, a heated front windscreen for the winter mornings at 6am before work when the inside and outside (I don't have aircon) are frozen up and take ten minutes to shift! I appreciate Ford have some sort of exclusivity thing for the heated windscreen but they are fantastic!

I believe a cruise control works best with an automatic gearbox - luckily I've got one of those :D Now I just need to install my buttons :nerd:
