Leather cleaner + residue on headlight (added 21.8.11)

Postby LookinFoolish » Fri 19 Aug, 2011 12:34

Anybody got anything they can recommend for a REALLY deep clean on leather??

I bought some Mers and it didn't do what i wanted. I can get pics if you guys require them. The seats on my Z show their age unfortunately... the upper seat e.g headrest looks fine, nice and clean, but the actual bit where you plonk your butt looks a bit dirty (no jokes please :P )

I''m after a leather cleaner that'll do a deep clean and really remove muck and restore the original colour if poss.

thanks :D

Gliptone products - always seemed to be the first product everyone mentioned when I asked the same question.

PS there's a conditioner product as well as a cleaner.

I've used Autoglym for years the cleaner and conditioner, works well to keep my black seats in condition. I have just bought Gliptone conditioner to try it out. I also use leather wipes for a quick spruce up in between time.

Here's a pic of my seat. I've bought some of the cleaner recommended, do you think it'll make a difference on this:

Yes, gliptone will bring them up treat if used with a scrubbing brush and damp cloth. I used it on a very dirty set of seats and they came up looking like new. The conditioner is good stuff too, leaves the seats smelling of nice new fresh leather for weeks :D

Yep agree Gliptone is by far the best stuff but you must use the conditioner to replenish the leather with the oils it needs to stay soft and supple. Your seats will smell and feel like brand new afterwards it is amazing stuff.

A belated thumbs up for Gliptone. Liquid leather is the schizzle as they say down the youth club. Really good stuff.

I didnt feel the need to make a new topic for this, although this isn't leather related....

But on both headlights of my Z3, i've got , what can only be described as 'sticker marks' from when i believe the car was abroad, pic below:

How do i remove them without scratching the headlights... As you guys can imagine, i'm trying to get this car looking mint.

A soft cloth and WD40 has worked for me in the past for the headlights...

managed to get them looking like new again, ended up using washing up liquid with a scraper :-D

Now i'm just waiting for the Gliptone leather cleaner. This is a full time job!
