I don't believe it...
Having just spent good money with Dentwise getting the bonnet of the Zed straight, I returned to the car yesterday to see that some kind soul has reversed into the front of the car, probably with a tow bar. Of course, no details left!
I will try to get a photo up soon to show the damage, but both grilles are cracked and the centre of the bonnet below the badge has been pushed in by about 2 inches.
I hope that it can be pulled, because I dont fancy paying out for a new bonnet, and certainly don't fancy an insurance claim. My biggest worry is that it seems to have affected the gaps above the lights and bumper.
I will be off to see a mate of mine with a bodyshop on Tuesday, so fingers crossed.

Christ that's horrid!! I've had some bad luck recently too, so I get what your feeling! Really sorry to hear about it and hope it all gets sorted out with minimal inconvenience and cost!
All the best,
Dave

Thanks guys, its a real bummer. Looking at the damage im sure its been caused by a 4x4 with a tow bar, as its completely missed the bumper. Giving the driver the benefit of the doubt, there is not much protection / resistence at the point of impact, so maybe, just maybe he / she was unaware.
This comes a day after it failed its MOT because the front O/S tyre is fouling on the inside of the wheelarch, so its already booked in for that to be sorted on Wednesday.
Looks like it could be an expensive week ahead!

So sorry to see that Simon, bastards is all I can say, they would have felt the bump for sure.
I reckon the dent could be pulled out by a decent specialist, although it looks to have gone in along the bottom edge so might be tricky but worth asking the body shop. shame the paint has cracked so will need a respray anyways. The gap between bumper and lights probably means the bumper mounts have been bent slightly but should be easily adjusted and aligned back.
I'm sure Deano on here had his bonnet repaired after hitting a deer.
Hope it gets sorted soon.
Tim.

Lets hope it can be put straight without the need for a bonnet. I can't get the bonnet open to check for further damage, so have decided to wait until I can get Ian at ID autos to check it out early next week. If anyone can straighten it, it will be Ian.
On the bright side, I have been fancying some new black chrome grilles for a while

similar happened to my zed recently by a hit and run.
Never happened on any other cars of mine before.
After looking through this forum, it seems pretty common on the zed's - do you think it's because they are small/low to the ground, so people in 4x4's maybe don't see them when reversing, or maybe just don't feel it and then drive off anyway?

I feel your pain I've had some vandal put a dent in my bonnet and some swine grazed my rear bumper which is going to cost me next week when it goes into the body shop. Any chance of ctv cameras that might of seen the incident?

No chance of CCTV cameras, it was parked round the corner from my house, it's pretty rural, and I know there is no coverage there.
I am quite hopeful of getting it repaired, just hope there is not too much damage that I can't see. If it comes good enough, I think I will get the bonnet swapped with the one on the 2.0 before selling it. It's quite handy having two the same colour

Good news...
Went to see Ian at ID Autos today, and was expecting the worst. I asked him if he thought it was repairable to which he came out with the classic line:-
"It's got to be F***ing repairable, have you seen the price of a new bonnet?"
Good man
Anyway, as the grilles are obviously beyond repair, does anyone have a spare set for sale? I know quite a few people have changed theirs for different styles.
OR
Does anyone have any experience of the ones offered on eBay? My experience is that aftermarket parts like this can be a bit hit or miss in terms of quality.

Should have posted this sooner, as the Z has been repaired for some time now. Really happy with the bonnet, £180 for the repair with ID Autos in Swansea including sorting out a couple of stone chips, a patch of rust on the rear wheel arch and doing a scrape on the wifes Golf!
On the down side £120 for a new set of OEM grills from the stealer, having just missed a set on ebay for £30. Doh!

Good news on the repair, looks good.
Sorry to go off track a bit but what have you done to your alloys, they look stunning. I have the same type and they are in need of a refurb, I'd look at doing something similar to mine.

I use Megs NXT on the chrome (dish) part of the alloys, the rest has just been washed in autoglym shampoo. In fairness, they're not that old, so a regular wash and polish and they come up like new.peteslag wrote: Sorry to go off track a bit but what have you done to your alloys, they look stunning. The dish part of my wheels are not chromed, they are the same as the centres. Looking at your wheels I will have to get mine done, it really suits the car.
This forum costs me a fortune, every time I go on it I see something new to do to my car.

Cheers for the heads up. I've had a look but I think it would work out cheaper to get mine painted. When I bought the car it came with very expensive Bridgestones that are nearly new, plus the centre portions of the wheels are immaculate. I know a good wheel refurbisher near to me, I'll give him a bell once I've got Christmas out of the way and my wallet is a bit healthier.
