I've had some great drives out over the winter months!

How much do you actually save££ but SORN'ing your Zed and loosing the chance to use it when you want on a surprise sunny winters day??

Just curious, but how much you you folks that SORN actually save after admin fees and the hassle of refunding the TAX. I am assuming you still insure against theft?

You simply let the tax run out and SORN it then. Re-tax it at the end of the month before you want it to start making sure they don't back-date it to the start of the current month. No admin fees involved. I retain insurance on my Westfield as it's a cheap agreed value, agreed mileage policy anyway.

Mine is sorned as she's going up on axle stands to sort a few jobs out over winter;

Sticking rear brake caliper
Rear Shockers and Springs
Front Wishbone Ball Joints
Both Cills need a respray

So she's having a well earned rest !

Mine is sorned for 6 months for the following reasons:

- it was bought as a hobby car to drive in summer only
- even then I've only done less than 1,000 miles in it this summer due to lack of time but enjoyed every one of them
- the car is stored 30 miles away from where I live so I don't have the option of a quick spin in it unplanned in winter
- if I drove it all year I would get bored of it. Not the cars fault but just the way I've always been with cars.
- its nothing to do with cost but I pay the taxman more than enough thank you very much and the 6 months I save on road tax goes a long way to the insurance cost ;-)
- I'm more of a positive thinker and so prefer to think of it as 6 months more zedding a year than if I did not own it rather than 6 months I'm losing out on :D

So no apologise from me for taking the car off the road for half the year

Not when the tax is £435 and it comes out half a dozen times

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

With the micro-climate we have in Torbay I would have thought you'd be out and about many times over the winter - we certainly will be, so if you see a steel grey 2.2l around during the week it'll be the wife going topless

after putting up with countles dick heads viewing the car when it was up for sale, I decided I'm not that stuck for the £1600 I was asking for it, and its now sorn and in the garage til I decide to get it resprayed and out on the road as a second car.

Won't be able to do that with a ///M as they need to run for 10 miles or so to get the oil up to temperature
I need to move house, further away from my workplace then.... :D
it hardly does 10 miles in a week :roflmao:
