Exhaust tail covers advise sought

Post by 2 zed »

Hi, I want to change the exhaust tail covers on my 2001 2.2i Z3, at present I have a pair of standard black chrome covers fitted and want to go for shiny chrome so I was looking at the parts screen at my local main dealer and it shows both tips as being the same part no. but my tips are both different as in one is shorter than the other and both are shaped to follow the curve of the rear bumper.

Has anyone bought a pair of these tips and is this going to be a problem.

Wile I was there I treated myself to a new gearknob, the short sport black leather mtec one, it weighs about nine kilos  and feels lovely, well happy with it.

Colin.

I bought two chrome ones from the dealer, for my 2.8 and they just fitted straight onto the end of the exhaust pipe.

Thanks Fender, Do they come flush with the bumper line and follow the curve of the bumper by any chance.

They are flush with the end of the exhaust pipe so where ever the pipe ends so does the chrome cover :D

I pulled the stainless pipes off my old one to expose the inner pipes, cut them back a bit and put some new stainless trims on that were a bit bigger. Much preferred them to the OEM pipes which look a bit small.

(btw it's advice :P)
