Hi,
Just wondering if people have had any view on which bushes to put in the lower arms of my 2.8 zed?
The powerflex seem to be the favourite option but has anyone used the cheaper strongflex ones?
They seem to have softer ones for road use and harder ones for track use!
Any opinions would be great to hear!
Thanks.

Wondering the same thing myself recently. I need to replace mine due to a slight knock on sharp turns, so figured I'd go for the 'normal' road use version as a compromise between too firm and just fitting OEM type.

Re: Powerflex or strongflex bushes?
Does anyone know if there is a 'm' bush which is a bit harder than the standard? Or are they the same?
I'm still dubious of buying the poly bushes and having too harsh ride!!

Re: Powerflex or strongflex bushes?
The ///M and standard bushes are indeed different. If memory serves, the standard is only part rubber, whereas the ///M is solid rubber. The ///M bush is also eccentric.
There are some pics of the standard bushes in these threads:

There are some eccentric poly ones shown in this thread:

Am struggling to find a pic of an ///M bush... must be one on here somewhere...
Cheers R.

Re: Powerflex or strongflex bushes?
You will not notice any additional ride harshness with Powerflex bushes, but they will hold the suspension geometry a lot better than the OE rubber bushes. We have them on the Z3 (ARBs and wishbone bushes) and everywhere on our Golf TDI, and have no problems with noise of harshness.
Stop worrying and fit them!

Re: Powerflex or strongflex bushes?
I've just bitten the bullet and ordered some Powerflex bushes for my front wishbone rear bush. I also ordered two carriers to make the changeover easier. The existing carriers look in a bit of a state, so I'll just be able to cut straight through them with my angle grinder, then fit the replacements complete with the Powerflex bushes.
I'll report back how it feels afterwards, probably not until after the bank holiday as I won't get chance to fit them (assuming the arrive by then anyway). I'm going to the 'SuperCar Sunday' at Goodwood on May 6th so don't want to risk having the car in bits on this day.
I like doing changes in step fashion so I appreciate what effect each change has, plus it means less danger of starting a job that drags on too long. I recently fitted a strutbrace and noticed a small, but noticable positive improvement in the feel of the car, we'll see if the bushes make the same sort of difference. I suspect mine are worn as I can induce a 'clunk' by vearing side to side at low speeds, so not comparing like for like I suppose.

Where did you buy them from, and how much? Sounds like a good idea to me, if they're not too expensive.OldskoolRS wrote:I also ordered two carriers to make the changeover easier.

Re: Powerflex or strongflex bushes?
Bought them off Ebay, £17 each plus £3.50 postage. As I've read how easy it is to fit the polybushes once the old bits are removed, I though I'd save the hassle of removing the old bush from the carrier. The £40 cost is easily offset by not paying any labour as I can do this myself.
