Hi ,
I have a 2.0 1999 z3 that needs the timing chain tensioner replacing .
Can anyone tell me if its a straight forward job that can be done at home or not?
Regards
Brent

Having a quick read of my Bentley's manual it seems that a special tool will be needed to remove and refit the VANOs unit, plus various other tools to lock the camshafts (these might be possible to fabricate an alternative perhaps). Depends on how much you're being quoted for the job as it might be one of those that you just have to hand over to the pros as much as I like to do everything myself.
