driver door not responding to remote locking

Post by Pistol968 »

Hi, I have a niggling little fault in that the drivers door neither locks or unlocks with the remote central locking- works OK with the key but has anyone any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks.

I had the same problem it's the solenoid that's failed .
I managed to get one from a breaker for £15 and got my local
bodyshop to fit it. A new solenoid from a stealer is over £50 again plus
fitting.

I had the same problem and fixed it by:

Holding in the UNLOCK button (grey) and pressing the lock button (red) THREE times. Apparently this is a way of getting the keyfob to recognise the car again (providing it has been done previously). The alarm might go off, so make sure you are ready to press the unlock/lock to stop it :)

After a few attempts mine was working again.

If something has failed, then the post above might be better, but try this first.

Hi , just tried that and now nothing works! Nothing is responding to the remote; neither door or boot or alarm....

Hi I had this problem and this was the advise I received from Zedbedee.

I have known people to have similar problems which can be traced to the wiring loom to the boot lid. Open the boot and look at the hinge on your left. There is a fairly thick bundle of wires by this hinge and the constant flexing can cause one or more wires to break. Broken wires will not show until you carefully peel back the insulation covering the bundle of wires.
Somewhere on this site you may be able to find out the colour code of the wires involved with the locking/alarm system and check them out.

It worked for mine.

Hi Jane, thanks for your response- I don't think it is the wiring- may be the first problem was but as nothing now works I think there is a secondary fault- I think I might just take it in to my friendly local Indy and save myself a lot of unnecessary stress!
