Being a BMW owner (Ripped off!)
Being a BMW owner, people suddenly think you have alot of money, or you're someone special. I've noticed the look on peoples face when i drive the Z3 around. You can't tell it's 15 years old. My model looks like it has just came out of the factory. With the private plate, anyone who doesn't know much about cars would think it's new. With that being said, i decided to replace my current alloys with the 'star' alloys, to get the look of the James Bond Z3.
I went into ATS Euromaster, in person, and was quoted £174 to have the following:
2 new budget tyres (only do very low mileage, so no point getting expensive tyres) fit 2 star alloys to these
fit my remaining 2 star alloys/tyres to the car
wheel allignment
Seemed a fair price. So i booked it in and took the car down today. When we got there, the guy asked if we wanted the tyres filled with nitrogen at the cost of £1 per wheel. I went for this. When the bill came, it was £218 I was thinking: Surely £174 + £4 for the nitrogen is £178. Well they saw me coming. Being a BMW owner, they think you've got money to burn.
Basically instead of a normal wheel allignment they'd chosen the computerized tracking without asking which we would like. The quote we were given in store was completely different than what was on the final bill. Whats more, the prices in store seemed more expensive than the costs quoted on the website. It's like they make up their own prices.. With them choosing all the expensive options and not giving us, the customer, the option, along with VAT, that's why the price was so high.
After telling them that we had been quoted, they took the final price down slightly. Not happy. Would avoid these guys like the plague. Not giving your customer a choice and choosing the more expensive options seems like a bad business ethic to me.
On the positive side, at least i've got my star alloys and the car is looking very much like the 007 look i'm going for

Stop moonraking over old coals. At least you now have a golden eye for a bargain.
I wouldn't want to encourage you to kick the living daylights out of the guys at ATS, but you could always give them the cold finger the next time you see them, as obviously their word is not their Bond, James Bond.
