How much was it, if you don't mind asking? Was it for aircon or no aircon model?

I've had the front bumper, Indicator panels, sills, leading edge of bonnet and mirrors resprayed. All done by a friend of the family to a very high standard. Really chuffed with the work he's done. To save money, i used the excellent guides on here about the removal of the mirrors and John Wilson's write up on the reinstallation process for the sills which saved a lot of time and frustration. So big thanks to all who have taken the time to put these processes into words and pics. :D

At the same time, i had the wheels refurbished, also really pleased witht the end result. Now waxed and back on the car again.

Hopefully a pic or two below......

Image

To do list is now a little smaller, rear bumper adjustment, rear window to be polished, brakes to be painted.....

I couldn't repair my brakes, so I made my horn louder.

Bought it used off z3coupe forum - no longer appears to be supplied new by anyone in the uk, so was looking into buying from USA ($399 + delivery, import duty & vat!). By pot luck a used one came up for sale :D

Yes, Boysie, it's a Carcoon. I opted for the 16ft version, but to be honest, the 14ft would have been quite adequate for my Z3. I bought it from http://www.carcapsule.co.uk, but it was shipped from Ireland & is an American product. The mains adaptor is from 110v to 240v 50/60Hz, & has fittings for either European or UK mains plugs.
The main reason I decided to get one for my car is that although it is stored in a (unheated) garage during the winter months, I have seen massive amounts of condensation form on the car when we had long cold spells with snow & minus 9C temperatures for days last winter, then the temperature suddenly rose with a rapid thaw. The car capsule is supposed to prevent that because of the constant air flow & therefore it stabilises the temperature within the capsule etc.
It's quite a good quality piece of kit. I would post a photo, but I can't figure out how to do that! (Doh!). Anyway, all the info is on the website. I noticed that the 14ft model is also for sale on EBay too.

2 rear tyres for my winter wheels, which are going to be refurbished tomorrow but I am unsure on the colour yet. It will either be silver or may go for an anthracite colour.

And this has arrived and been fitted :D (need to get some better pictures)

Maybe this will give me motivation to finally do some basic detailing of the engine bay (weather permitting)... I have a Simota induction kit to install as well. I am also going to remove the aftermarket M-Power emblem from the fugly fuel rail and give it a lick - or rather a spray - of new paint, as currently it looks quite weathered.

Set of front mud flaps, Small rust lift on edge of lower front wings rubbed down treat, metal solid, primed ready for top coat. Lip of mud flaps will cover treated/painted area and help prevent future rust :!: :!:

This is one of the benefits of more and more Zeds being broken for spares, they look in really good nick and should just bolt on :thumb:

Exactly, they are not perfect but certainly look a lot better than my current ones. It was going to cost me more to repair the passenger side wing than it was to buy these 2. This way I also get rid of the big deep scratch (been on since I got the car) and huge chip and other blemishes I have on the drivers side one.

Thanks... I wasn't actually ready for an M yet, I was actually looking on Ebay for a new shorter aerial and a couple of other things but spotted this and I looked at it a couple of times and eventually decided to have a look.

As you say some touches are good, some not so good but it is mechanically very sound and came complete with spare OEM bumpers and a full carpet to fit and because it needs a little TLC the price was right so I took the plunge. I have to admit, I quite like the bumpers (I know I am in a minority) but I am not sure they will stay, mainly due to Greater Manchester's insistence on building speed humps big enough for Sir Edmund Hillary! Either way they, and/or the OEM ones need to be re-sprayed and I will decide then which to put back on, but thats a job for later in the year.

Unfortunately though this means that the silver one will have to be sold - I'll be sad to see it go, especially as I haven't finished the changes and modifications that I am making to it and so I won't actually be able to enjoy them. Hopefully though I will have them all finished in the next couple of months and they will be of a standard that someone else will like and appreciate so that it goes to a good home.

Nice looking boot tidy bag - I just ordered one as well!

Re. centre cap stickers - my highest recommendation: If you still can, cancel the order. I bought one (different size obviously, but otherwise exactly the same sticker) for my steering wheel as the emblem (embedded to the airbag) has a slight dent. The quality of those stickers is awful. Instead of nice shiny, textured, three-dimensional finish as the original wheel caps, those are just very dull looking, completely flat stickers with a dull matte silver base and a BMW logo printed on them. They are not very cheap either. You could probably find a mint set of real centre caps for not very much more money.

My purchase this week: Extension wiring for the Racelogic Traction Control, shrink-wrap, and E45 cream to treat the leather with, as suggested in another thread! :D

These aren't crappy copies, they are genuine BMW and a top quality product and are proper convex shape to fit the hub cap.

My other set of wheels had those cheap aftermarket 'tin' ones you are talking about and yes they are crap.

The one I bought from bmwminiparts was allegedly genuine BMW, it was convex shape, and looked very much like the ones on Amazon, but quality was nowhere near a proper emblem.

Here's the sticker vs. emblem comparison photo:

IMHO the dented emblem looks so much better that I decided to suppress my OCD and just live with it...

Not so much this week, but last weekend I treated the Zed to

1. Four Avon ZV5s for a total of £335 including fitting and alignment from ATS Euromaster (negotiated hard :) )

2. Some Meguiars NXT Polish

We all like a nice piccie, don't we? Here's some gratuitous photos taken today at Sleap Aerodrome
