I spent yesterday refinishing my seats.

They were creased to buggery, hard and shiney and the bolster was in a right state.

I used the Furniture Clinic kit to start from fresh to give them that 'just out of the factory' look.

I wish I had taken some pics, but I was full of cold with a temperature and just wanted to get it done.

It involved cleaning off all the years of dirt and grease.
Then using an extremely aggressive liquid to remove the factory finish and then using it on a scouring pad to make sure the original paint sealer was definitely all gone.
This is the point where you stand back and think 'Ooooops!'

I then put the heat gun onto the seats to get rid of the sagging leather, I managed to remove pretty much all of the creases, all gone from the bolster and back rest and 90% from the seat base, just the ones towards the back still showing.

With that done I started dab on the dye with a sponge and work it into any creases etc.
However, having used the spray gun already I could have probably just started spraying, but with the patterned leather on the centre sections I thought the dabbing on was probably still a good idea.

Then used he supplied spray gun and sprayed 3 coats onto the seats, using the heat gun to dry each coat.

Then moved onto the sealant, this is what gives you the strength.
I did both seats in this and this left a gloss finish, not nice!

However you then move to the finish you have chosen, I went with Matte as this is what BMW have always used.
I did the first coat on the drivers side and then started on the passenger side and realised I had only been sent one can of airbrush propellant.
So had to call it a day while I want for the other can to arrive.
just one of those things, but was a bit annoying.

Overall though it is a seriously impressive bit of kit, extremely easy to use and gets your seats looking factory fresh for £55.

I will post some pics later of the finished results, but highly recommended.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Didn't buy this week but collected the parts and fitted this week.

Switch from Alexanders of Somerset, interface from BMW and under column shroud from local scrappy for £2.

..... I see you use Shaun Alexander too Brian.... he's a really nice guy - judging by my dealings with him - I've just fitted the same kit to my 3.0 recently....
and I've just taken Geordie's angel eye kit off him...so that will be a forthcoming addition to Scarab II...

Yes your name came up in conversation Barry really helpful guy. He didn't have a part I needed for something else and he mailed me back a few weeks later when he had managed to find one, not many others would do that. Scarab II will be a new car when you have finished. :)

Oh and on the slightly more expensive front, one of these will hopefully be on its way soon:

Haha, I think you might be right.

Although a bit worried about whether I'll be able to keep it at the moment. The lady we rent the garage off has just died and I am waiting to find out if I will be able to carry on renting it or even buy it.
If I can't then not sure what I will do to be honest.
I rent two, the one in the background of pic 1 with the blue door I rent out to someone else, but mine is great as it is double, only a single door, but means I can put my ML in front of the door as well. I can have the one on the end still but that will only fit one car, can't park outside that one.
I was about to get this resprayed, but if it is going to live on the street, then I can't see the point.
Also, no residents parking here so a nightmare.

She would go and die a month after I buy a soft top!!

I know, some people!!

The garage has been passed onto her son, who has in turn passed it on to a local letting agent, who we are now paying.
However, if is part of an antiques centre and they have always wanted it, however, the agreement was that it was mine until I wanted to let it go, but that was an agreement I had with the owner as we got on.
Now she has died I fear that may change.
Although I pay quite a lot for it, maybe more than the antiques centre is prepared to pay. Fingers crossed.

I used the Furniture Clinic Kit.

http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Leathe ... nt_Kit.php

I went medium size, and needed it, well, I needed the second can of propellent. So you could buy the small kit and get a second can locally if you run out.

That's very nice, cant really appreciate the colour In the picture.
Sorry I didn't see that thread.
I've been trying to get this done for a very very long time, it does compliment the cars upholstery.
Red soft top next, well some time in the near future lol.
It should been an option on the car the colour coded tonneau.
But this opens a can of worms, what BMW should have done or added as an optional extra's
The list would be endless.

Love your wheels
Scuffed one of mine today Grrrr

I did mine with the scuff master and it folds without problems so really pleased with it, the imola looks good too, everyone will be doing theirs now :D

I dread scuffing wheels.... I park so far away from the kerbs I need a taxi to the footpath.

A set of new foglight bulbs.... one had blown, so replaced both... Also, just fitted a set of Z8 chrome windscreen waterjets... Had to fashion a clip to hold them securely since they're slightly different in the underside size vs the OEM ones... They also seem to have a larger nozzle from which the water is ejected...so there's no shortage of cleaner hitting the screen... in fact it's like a friggin rainstorm.... :roflmao:

Road tax, insurance and holiday all need paying this week, so decided on making a "cheapskate" wind deflector.
Take some 5mm Perspex. £9.50, and mark around roll bars.

I gave mine the same treatment. Retrimmed M tech in black leather, perforated and grain with beige stitching and extra padding from Jack at Royal Steering Wheels. I went to Aylesbury where he fitted it.
It has made such a difference to the look of the interior and feels so good to drive. Much, much better than the original factory fitted. Definitely worth the money, £120 fitted. Would post shots if I could work out how to do it!

As I happened to be passing the local dealer I called in to get a new washer jet for the Z3 - £8.69 (excl VAT)!!!! When I was filing the invoice I looked back as I had to replace one in April 2008 and the price then - £1.58 (excl VAT). Is there a separate BMW Inflation rate????

As soon as I will paint and install them. Might be not so soon. Today I will check the possibilities to create real carbon fiber versions of them. So if anyone is interested in CF versions of flippers, please PM me and let me know how much you would be ready to pay for CF version.

Received today chrome gear shifter surround which fits non-M z3, ACS carbon fiber brake handle, clear side marker lights, hamann alloy fuel cup and 3rd brake light sealant :)

I might be interested - I like my aftermarket bumpers, but with splitters on the front I might be tempted to put the OEM bumper back on
