Taken a punt on some ATE performance brake discs, pads and 4 pot calipers for the front, ATE are the OEM manufacturers for our brakes and these parts are listed as performance upgrades for the range of Zeds 1.9 through to 3.0. Hopefully be with me next week. A little nervous about fitment if I'm being honest.

Bits for retro fitting cruise control just need the nuts and a clip. Seat switch, boot dampers, aircon switch as mine got a scratch and the spare I sourced was from another model.

did you mind me asking if you've managed to source a UK base machine shop to achieve something close to strong strut quality?

If so pls share ...

In the last week I've bought a new genuine leather gear knob for my car and a new genuine mirror glass as the pattern part just kept falling off and I had a new roof fitted..

Hi PJH. I designed and manufactured them myself. Not a difficult job all that is required is a source of heat for bending the 2"x1/2" flat bar, a lathe and a drilling machine. If out want dimensions l can provide.
Cheers flight.

Piston and seals for rhf front caliper.

£20 is cheaper than £270+VAT for a new caliper. I know they are only £80 from an auto factors, but I like to compare against BMW prices. It feels like I've saved more - and that hurts less :D .

Bigg red job? My o/s/r caliper has just started binding, lifted it off the carrier to inspect and found slides perfect and the piston moves freely in the caliper body. Wondering if the flexy hose is breaking (no pun) down and acting like a one way valve letting pressure through but not return? The ABS module is unlikely to be at fault I hope.

Hi Koolflyer it looks as if your drop links are worn as well. The Meyle ones are very good quality when I changed mine. made a good difference to the handling as well.
Brian and gookah, as I said before when I replaced the control arms with the new integral bushes plus Polys at the back it didn't really make a great difference to the ongoing shuddering, however, after your advice on changing the drop links Brian, they have made a world of difference! (and such a cheap easy job). At the same time I refurbed the ARB and put new rubber ARB bushes on on gookahs advice. I suppose after 126k and 17 years everything will be basically time expired, so a case of gradually updating everything as and when the wallet can afford it. I'm now 90% happy with the feel so sometime I'll update the shocks. Made to cruise over to Spa Classic a lot more pleasant....thanks guys!

It's a new car to me and it's also MOT time so rear dampers, rear topmounts, a full set of Pagid pads, front control arm bushes, air,oil and fuel filters and an MOT.

Next up is looking like a full set of brake flexi hoses and a bleed, some front wishbones (outer joint rubbers are cracked), new front topmounts, new rear screen and in a few months 4 tyres. I can see this lot adding up. :head:

Bought a new aerial rubber grommet, only £5.96 from main dealers, it was a nice 20 minute job to install, it has now stopped water getting only the alarm componants and looks really good.

Think it was age more then wear, but the new vented/drilled discs do look the part.

Well, after a long 18 months (at least), I've finally got the Z back on the road 8-)

Needed:

- Service
- New speed sensor on the N/S rear (old one had to be cut out due to corrosion)
- New intake hose due to a split
- New wiper blades
- 4 new tyres (originals had manage 25500 miles and finally given up the ghost)

Shiny new MOT with advisories on pitted brake discs and corrosion on front suspension. So still not perfect  Any tips on dealing with the front suspension. Mech said something about getting it steam cleaned?

This is what happens when you keep your car off-road, but not garaged :head:

I hope the next few months 8-) is worth the grief I'm getting from the wife

Front suspension is best stripped down, wire brushed and I painted ours with Hammerite, couple of coats to make sure all is well covered.

Eventually fitted my side braces. That's everything now, front and rear braces fitted and the lot tied together with the side braces. The car feels a lot tighter, scuttle shake and tramlining appear to have been reduced and are not noticeable. Running out of jobs to do.

I bought a pair of the Black seat belt guide repair Z'ds from southernboy ( Barry) and what a cracking job they have made. One was broken and needed replacing or something !!!!!!!!!!!! I just might have a second pair but in the Silver. Something as neat and functional as they are needs to be shown-off when the hood is down.
I decided that the relatively small investment in a pair was investment money 'Well Spent' and it has proved to be just that.
They are neat and an absolutely 1st Class fit. The really do look the Dog's Bits.
Happiness is a well kept Z3 and preferably running with the hood down - weather permitting.

Hi to you all. Well - albeit Pre-owned,I have just bought a rather tasty Italian Boot Rack. It is the La Prealpina Stainless Steel/Aluminium one that has lockable covers over the Allen Cap Bolts that secure everything to the boot lid clamps.

I had been "Watching" it on E'bay and had deliberately stayed at home until the listing was due to finish.

A new battery for £45 delivered, result !!

The previous one lasted six years so not bad for a budget battery.

Had a new viscous coupling on radiator fan fitted this week.
The fan's been coming on for a year or so when it shouldn't. Borg Warner one for £95 including fitting by an indie garage.
Scotthall BMW main stealer wanted £216 just for the part !
Car goes a little better too without all that drag. Should have got it changed sooner really
