How long to change a clutch ?

Post by Tez »

Hi
The question is in the heading :)

Just a rough idea how long it should take a garage to change my clutch on my 1.8 facelift.

Thanks

Mine was replaced last Nov when it collapsed while driving. It happened at about 10am, the car was towed to my mechanic -1 hour - I got it back that same evening around 6pm. Granted, my mech is a certified BMW specialist, and a personal friend...But actual working time...same day if the parts are to hand.

A fully-kitted garage should be able to do it in about 3-4 hours, but they will need spares that they are unlikely to have in stock, like new propshaft nuts and bolts.
