The stripe is gone...
The stripe is gone...
So... A good few days of hard work, I've stripped the white stripes off the Z (purely as was repairing a large dent in the bonnet- only taken me a year to get round to) so has all been rubbed down, nice colour matched base coat applied (giving a few days to harden before rubbing down then clearcoat... But it looks to 'boring' now... Thinking of twin silver stripes down the middle this time, or white... Need to decide before the clearcoat goes down.... :/

Re: The stripe is gone...
I like body graphics that are really subtle - eg solid black on a metallic black car (or the other way around). There, but not there.

Before and After pics?

It's an under 30s thing.

Re: The stripe is gone...
Try BMW colour stripes....... they're faster....
Just kidding. If you like them, that's cool too. Each to his own vision.

Re: The stripe is gone...
I'm not a lover of stripes on a Z3 but I do think that a pair of smaller stripes would look better.

Much better without to be honest, with the stripe it reminds me of a schoolgirls hockey gym slip

Yeah... As said it was a temp cover up of a bad and rushed fill job... But I miss it... Just doesn't seem like 'my car' anymore

I guess you could always apply a new stripe the same colour as the Zed, so you know its there but not as obviousDougblack wrote:Yeah... As said it was a temp cover up of a bad and rushed fill job... But I miss it... Just doesn't seem like 'my car' anymore

Pahhh... Puritans!
The decision has been made... Respray to be done...
A shift from montreal blue (ala scratched and chipped to buggery) to...
Alpine white, with 2 modest viper stripes (or 1 drivers side stripe as before), but In silver.
The uncle has finally come good and offered to help with his professional sprayer expertise (the offer of a few paper notes and beer lubricated the offer).
Turns out I have to prep myself, so rubbing down the car, filling and priming is my job... Luckily the missus has bought me a pro polisher for my birthday, and a selection of 3m trizact sanding discs up to 3000 grit.
So....
My job over the next week or so is sanding, filling, priming and making sure all is flat ready for basecoat.
I think the alpine white will look smart, the Calipers are already red VHT'd and shiny might even get a few bonnet straps and go for that sort of look.
Wish me luck! ( if all goes terribly wrong I'll have a z for breaking... Lol :s )
