New Hardtop Colour

Post by Brian H »

I brought out my hardtop earlier this week in anticipation of fitting it to the car, Arctic Silver on Dakar Yellow II car just does not suit!

I had the roof wrapped in Satin Black but will eventually get it sprayed in Dakar Yellow II (thanks to amacuso for sending the pics).

This may not be everyones cup of tea (at the moment I am unsure myself  ), comment good and bad are welcome :)

Not bad Brian, good as a stop gap measure, certainly better than silver, but for me it would have to be dakar yellow. :)

Looks great, obviously better than silver :P personally I would go for gloss black but its a nice contrast with the bodywork :)

IMHO it looks good as it is...Sort of looks like the satin finish of a soft top...Wouldn't do anything to the gills or mirrors, but maybe fit the chromed door handles..

I think it looks good, contrasts with the yellow and compliments the wheels, id be tempted to do the gills tho and have the side repeaters a darker smoked colour....

The roof looks great but i wouldn't do the side vents IMHO it would look a bit tacky

I like it that way, looks like you meant to have a contrast rather than just putting on a Black top

Thanks for all your your comments, some interesting suggestions :) , as I mentioned this is a stop gap before getting the top colour coded (at some point  ). I think I will leave the gills/mirrors etc as they are for now, Two, who is a member on here has black side gills which looks really good but not the overall style I am looking for. Thanks again :)

I think the satin black roof looks fantastic, and better than a body-coloured one. After all, these are roadsters and you have retained the roadster look with the practicalities of a hard top.

Roof looks great in satin Black against the dakar paintwork. I would consider getting the gills done satin black too though if I were you. Maybe you could even get a set of ///M gills and give them the satin black treatment - you already have the ///M mirror thing going on so it makes sense AND would be very cool, IMHO. :D

I think that looks pretty cool.

I'd leave the side gills as is though.

New Hardtop Colour

Post by Brian H »

Well just a little update, after a tip off from a forum member I managed to buy this hardtop :D

A factory painted Dakar Yellow hardtop, I do not remember seeing one for sale in this colour before. I am so chuffed to get this, needles to say my satin black top is now for sale:

Only downside is that the top is in Congleton, 8 hr round trip. Oh well I suppose any excuse for a drive :drive :thumb:

That was up for a great price too, didn't think it would take long too sell. The seller seemed to under price the roof because of the colour, like he said in the listing that there are not many dakar zeds about, I would have thought he could have more of a premium because of the rarity :shrug :D

I agree, it was a good price, I could not press the but it now button quickly enough :D, I reckon it will be a while before one pops up for sale again. Hopefully I will be able to shift my existing hardtop pretty quickly to cover some of the costs.
