Hi Guys,
I'm in Chester - have just bought BM Technics kit with 20 pin adaptor. Have loaded the full package onto laptop (ouch - that's a lot of memory) but now have to work out how to use it and how much is actually of any use for my '98 1.9 auto. Currently reading RobertT's knowledge base write up. :? :head:

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Colne (End of M65), Lancashire

Draper oil/Inspection reset tool.

INPA v9.0.7 (on a netbook, so its portable, but no portable printer)
with 20 pin round connector and Blue BMW USB to ODBII cable thingy-mi-bob.
works on my 1997 2.8 (20 pin under bonnet) to read and clear codes, view live data etc, so assuming it'll work with others and with ODBII.
Designed or not designed, that is the question.

@jont - this forum has had visitors from 186 countries. Australia is ranked 10th with about 1% of the visits, with a good spread between Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland. I'm guessing that you're a darn sight nearer those people that us pommies. :)

@Brian - I don't play any more, but I have played both courses in my youth. We stayed at Morenish Lodge a few times, just up the road. I remember one year an RAF jet came down and the road was closed at Lochearnhead, and we had to drive a 60 mile detour to get back to the hotel. Think we might even have taken the caravan up there, but I was only a wee bairn then. Don't know if you encountered any of our hoodlums up there a couple of weeks ago, but about 250 Austin-Healeys were staying in Crieff and doing various outings round you all week.

Cheers R.

Edit: Clearly wasn't awake this morning - of course I mean jont, not jonco.

Do any of these kits show the dates the faults occurred ? or can you interrogate the ECU to find out ?

Not that I've discovered yet, G. Only definitve way I found is to clear the codes and then run the car. The ECU has an idea of the time though, so it might be in there somewhere, just not that I've seen with INPA. There is an occurrence count, which at least tells you how often an event has happened and a many events also record the RPM and engine temp, so you know whether the car was warmed up or not.
