Re: Favorite Mod?
My DIY shorter gear lever and RAID steering wheel are the absolute favourites - they improve driving pleasure even when the car is not moving.
Engine: Remap with modified air box and cold air intake (made of B&Q plastic drain pipe sections)
Suspension/Handling: Poly wishbone and ARB bushes -17 mm rear ARB - Hamann strut brace - Strong Strut Butt Strut and Body Brace - Rear crossmember bush inserts - E46 front strut mounts - Bilstien Sprintline dampers with Eibach front springs (standard rear springs to maintain adequate ground clearance under Butt Strut)
Brakes: Zimmermann drilled front discs with EBC Redstuff pads all round
Safety: Philips Blue Vision headlamp bulbs - high level rear view mirror - indicator self-cancelling disabled
Comfort: A really quiet stainless steel cat-back exhaust system (MJI Exhausts of Walsall) - Gear lever shortened by one and a half inches, and the rubber core replaced by body filler to give a really good feel to the gearchange - 340 mm diameter RAID airbag steering wheel, which really improves finger comfort on a long run - those bits of sharp plastic on the MSport wheel used to dig into my thumbs. I bought it about 6 years ago for £315 when the exchange rate was high.
Aesthetics: latest type of BMW wheel centre caps - E21 wheel centre cap at centre of air con fan - silver side gille meshes - Z8 washer nozzles - chrome door handle covers - body coloured kidney grilles and front number plate surround.
Convenience: Storage net on driver's side - CD changer bulge removed from boot 0 clutch and brake pedal rubbers swapped over, to enable my right leg to straighten out, and the foot to easily slip behind the cutch on long runs

I like to keep mine standard
Of all the mods on my car smaller raid steering wheel is definitely the best (ps I think Mike meant 340mm above as 320mm would be too small IMHO). Cosmetically its a combination of lowering and deep dish alloys.

My favourite mods would have to be:
AC Schnitzer roll hoops
Raid steering wheel
///M seats
I've got plenty of other faves but these are probably the top three

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
Re: Favorite Mod?
The ones that made the most difference to the driving experience were gear knob replacement then Amsoil and bleed clutch. I've had my Eibach springs on so long I can't remember what it was like before but they make car look so much better.
The one I've done resenly that makes the front look soo much better is the removal of the standard front number plate and bracket and fitting a smaller 12"x 3" number plate.

Re: Favorite Mod?
Best value mod - when I got the car I didn't like the fact that the driver's sun visor had a vanity mirror in (strange, I know, but humour me!). In other cars the mirror on the driver's side is always covered or just not there, and on the Zed I used to avoid using the sun visor because the reflection down into the car used to distract me. So imagine my delight at finding one without a mirror on ebay for about £3. Bargain!!
Also, like DevonZ I took off the front number plate and carrier, and replaced with a smaller plate. My reg number has two '1's in it, so I can have a slightly shorter, but still legal, front plate. Just taking the carrier off and attaching the plate directly to the bumper makes a big difference in tidying up the front.

Re: Favorite Mod?
Based on PCSAM’s photos, these lens covers give quite a subtle smoky look – I quite like it on a silver car. This would protect the lens surface and appears to negate the need to worry so much about an orange indicator.
