z3 rear springs

Post by sapper-b »

Do you have to drop trailing arm & drive shaft to change springs or can you compress them enough to get them out ? :?:

Remove the wheel, undo the bottom bolt on the shock absorber and remove spring. You may get a bit more movement by releasing the anti-roll bar, but I've done it without.

I recently changed the rear springs on my M roadster. I managed to get them out without undoing the anti roll bar but that was only because the springs had snapped. Had no chance in fitting the new ones without undoing the anti roll bar. With that undone it was dead easy to get new springs in. Changed the rubber mounts at same time, well they were 14 years old.
