Which type of wind break?

Post by TR4man »

I'm optimistically hoping that summer is just around the corner and I'd like to buy a wind break.

I'd appreciate any advice as to whether the perspex or the net version is the one to have.

Regards

For my money that OEM mesh type deflector is the most effective in doing what it says on the tin.
Aesthetically some prefer the perspex.
I've tried three variants but came back to the mesh in the end.
If you want one, mine is for sale now that the Z3 has gone.

As Titan says the mesh one is more effective but the perspex one is also pretty good.

I have both and use the mesh one for Spring and Autumn and the perspex one for the summer months.

I have the perspex type, with the windows down it is very effective, with the windows up it does create a vortex and any pieces of paper in the storage tray will soon be gone.

I have had the mesh type, I think rear vision is a little impaired.

I have the mesh type and it very effective.... if you're going to break wind, do it through a mesh :)

I followed G8jka's route and made a perspex one, a fun way to spend a few hours and it doesn't look too bad considering it cost me just over £20 all in!

It also works fairly well and is certainly a big improvement on running without one.

Hello all... it is my first post here. I bought my Z3 a couple of weeks ago and have to say I love it! It didn't have a wind breaker though which I am keen to purchase, probably prefer the mesh/net to be honest.

However, the middle console has a storage unit that opens upwards, slightly behind and between the seats, actually it open between the chrome roll bars so I was a little unsure as to where my wind breaker would fit?

Any ideas - is there a version that works with this?

Thanks in advance

Yes
The mesh version sits behind the hoops and allows access to the top cubby box.
Perspex ones tend to block it

I've got my perspex one mounted on the back of the roll hoops so still have access to my storage cubby!
