Drainage cups for soft top (behind seats)

Post by honeybee#234 »

Can someone please send a pic of where these drainage "cups" are, so I can check that they're not blocked. I can't find them anywhere behind the seats??!! :head:

Don't think there are any. Are you thinking of an MX5, which does have these?

The drainage 'cups' are just behind the 'B' post at each side of the car. They are not easily visible with the hood fully down.

Really? Well, you learn something every day. I've had a good prod around that area and never seen them!!

Specsavers? :)

The last time I cleaned them was a while ago when fitting Damper reinforcement plates.I think you need to peal back the hood well carpet to access the drain funnels.

I didn't know there were "cups" down there either and I had my carpet out in the Spring to replace the rear shocks. All I found was a triangular rubber grommet protecting some wiring which on my car had come out and needed to be repositioned. Any piccies anybody?

Thanks, but sorry I'm not much clearer. I've found a little tube under the car which must come from the drainage "cup" at that side, but still haven't found where they are. Would be very grateful for a pic.

I tried some pics yesterday, but it is very difficult see them never mind photograph them.Raise the hood one to two feet.If you look down behind either door, you should see one of the main hood hinge struts which runs fore and aft.If you shine a light down between the strut and the inner wing yo might see a rectangular cup which collects the water from each end of the hood to rear body seal.If you can't see anything, try moving the hood to a slightly different position.Alternatively have a feel around outboard of the hinge strut.
Hope that helps.I can understand why people aren't aware of them.

WELL DONE BRIAN!
