Stumbled across a site that a member of bimmerforums has set up to show a step by step comprehensive guide on how to replace your soft top.
Whilst most of us would never attempt it ourselves it looks to be a great guide for anyone that does want to and a good reference for the rest of us.

I've seen it done by a pro, 4 hours later it was finished.
Perfect job.
I wouldn't attempt it, but it's possible to do with a little patience.
