Hi all, my 2.0 has developed a slight low down misfire (second gear 1500/2000rpm) thinking it may be plugs, reading up the Bosch 4 electrode plugs as fitted have a service life of 60k, Bosch 2 electrode have service life of 25k, if my plugs turn out to be iffy after 27k why don't I just replace with 2 electrode (which Bosch list for my car) at half the price of the 4 electrode?
What are people using?

Re: Low down misfire.
It could be a coil pack breaking down, worth having a diagnostic check.

Re: Low down misfire.
As a rough rule of thumb they say copper/standard plugs last up to 30K, platinum up to 60k and iridium up to 90K. I’ve got Bosch Super 4 spark plugs (FR78X) fitted in my 1.9 (M44). These have four electrodes but are in the “up to 30K category”. Plugs seem to break down with age as well and so I’m not sure that I’d keep any plug in my car for more than 4 years and would probably look to change the standard/copper ones every 2-years – cheap and easy job.
Re: Low down misfire.
BOSCH plugs are rubbish, get NGK.
Re: Low down misfire.
Must admit I think NGK plugs are better. I once had some Bosch glow plugs in a diesel fail after 1-year
Re: Low down misfire.
Update, number two plug had a brown stain around the base of the ceramic and all the electrodes looked worn so new set fitted and all good, originals were NGK I've replaced with Bosch we'll see how we get on.
