MOT Failure
Had a little issue with the MOT today...
Time to find a garage with a sunken ramp

Re: MOT Failure
That's irritating for you - how low are you? I know you have adjustable suspension - can you lift it for the test?
Re: MOT Failure
It is adjustable but not without taking the springs out (it's the rear that's the problem), it's only an hour job and I was considering raising the rear up a little bit anyway. They said it needs a ramp with a sunken pit underneath, there's a garage round the corner that I've used before that has one so I'm going to give them a try first. Didn't have to pay anything since they couldn't get it on the ramp either. As for how low it is, probably at least a 100mm drop from standard on the rear, haven't measured it to be honest.

Re: MOT Failure
If you want fashion rather than function, you have to accept these little problems . . .
A 100 mm drop - particularly at the rear - is ridiculous.

Re: MOT Failure
or get some long planks to get it onto the ramp? (shallower climbing angle).
although the garage with pit may be easier.
i'm getting mine lowered soon, and i'm worried about our sloping path entrance form over function always wins for me though, hence a 2 seater convertable...

Re: MOT Failure
if its 100mm drop then surely its on the bumpstops?!!!!
Re: MOT Failure
100mm may have been an over-estimation. It's not on the bump stops, quite far off in fact, it's just got the height adjuster for my rear springs set quite low.

Nice info for a cloner. I'd delete from the host site if I were you.
Do you have problems on speed bumps?

Can't see the attraction in lowering.

Re: MOT Failure
Yes - you can do whatever you want with your car - but don't expect to pass an MoT test easily . . .
The driveshaft couplings will be having a hard time too, as they are constantly working.

Only really high and deep ones, that's why I'm planning on raising it up a bit.pingu wrote:Do you have problems on speed bumps?

Re: MOT Failure
I just don't see the point in making life hard for yourself
Afraid I'm not a fan of lowering either as for the most part I can't see how it adds to the car except the worry of speed humps, high curbs etc. The Exhaust on mine scrapes on the drive 2 up in the Zed so lowered it would get ripped off. Plus excessive lowering just makes the car look like an elephant has sat on it
Sorry
Tim.

Xvar your zed isn't that low trust me...
Dallan's zed is on hydraulics and a lot lower...
Just get it Mot'd somewhere else. I like the way yours looks

Re: MOT Failure
Update - it passed, no advisories Ended up raising the rear up 20mm as it had settled at a height lower than I originally intended anyway.
