Z3 +7 Years

Post by Tourniquet »

Evening Amigos.

Just figured I'd drop by to give a few updates on my Z3 +7 Years.

On Insurance
http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9361
Further to that post my Insurance renewal cost £450 last year and £330 a few weeks ago (currently on 12 years no claims)

On Tyres
http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... =15&t=9105
Recently replaced the gds3 set for a new set of goodyear eagle F1s for £510 total. lasted maybe 20,000 miles over 7 years. Diesel spills and skidpans not withstanding they held to the road as well as I could ask, so I can't fault wear.

On Mileage
http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... =5&t=10407
Currently getting around 250 Miles per tank at 30 miles per day averaging around 50MPH.

On Rust
http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... =5&t=14643
Further from that post I have rust developing at the panel edges under the bonnet and a notable occurrence at the front of the rear wheel arches (there's a small lip that seems to catch pebbles and possibly prevent drainage). currently treating with kurust. I suspect salt has caused most of the damage.

Hrrm... what else.
Failed the MOT with the damn airbag light (faulty ECU). OEM replacement quoted £330, found a couple of spares on Ebay for £15 a pop (got 4 to make sure at least one arrived on time), fitted it myself in about 2 hours and paid a local specialist £20 to recode it. No idea how you're supposed to get the centre console past the handbrake, but worked around it.
Bonnet alarm switch failed....
Engine thermostat stuck too low.....
passenger door C-locking failed.....
the usual suspects really :)
Convert to the church of "nice shiny engine bay"
All hail the shiny engine bay.
