Central locking issues

Post by Davejue1 »

Hi, I have an original BMW alarm fitted with the remote central locking fob. It opens and locks the passenger door and boot but not the drivers door. Is there a common fault or could I be opening a big can of worms?
Any advice greatfully received.
Thanks
Dave

More than likely it is the door solenoid which is not operating which is at fault. My advice is check this out before looking at the boot wiring loom etc which are the usuall suspects on this forum. You can pm me if you would like.

Thanks t-tony, I'll check that first as it would seem the easier option.
Fingers crossed!!

But how do you check its working or not without having to remove the door card etc?

I doubt you can but I need to take the door card off anyway to adjust the window as I'm getting a small amount of water coming in at the top and I also need to grease the window regulator as it's very very slow, so can do it all at the same time. If it turns out not to be the solenoid that way I've lost nothing. Then I can start tracing wires if needs be but I'm useless with wiring to be honest so fingers crossed its the latter!
