Angel Eye Projector Advice Please

Post by David »

Hi All,

I have just purchased a set of Angel Eye Projectors and attempted fitting, but the angel eyes don't seem to work. I have patched/piggybacked the wires provided into the bumper sidelights (as per the knowledge base post) but nothing...

Black wire to solid coloured wire
Red wire to wire with stripe

I'm aware that the rings are difficult to see in daylight, so I have put the car in the garage, which is quite dark, and I'm certain they aren't on.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Anyone who trusts Scotchlocks deserves the grief they give - learn how to solder!

I know how to solder. Evidently better than I can use scotchlocks!

However, I do not own a soldering iron anymore, but I do own some scotchlocks ;)

Looking good mate!

For me, the best modification to make the car look more modern, I love my angel eyes.

You just need some leather seats now!

Hi Marty

Got them from one of the guys on the forum who is currently breaking a Z3, I'll let him announce himself if he wishes.

Essentially, these are them:

I take it that you have to put your side lights on to make the angel eyes work?

That's right. I've seen some people have them wired to the ignition(?) instead so they turn on when you unlock the car. I think that's a nice touch, but for now I'm happy with them wired into the sidelights.

If anyone can tell me the easiest way to wire them up to come on with the car being unlocked - my ears are open!! :)

Thanks for that, I'm sure there was a post on some time ago telling you how to do that.

Wiring them into fuse 24 will allow them to come on with the ignition and turn off with the ignition.

If you want them dim-able on lock and unlock you have to wire them into the interior light (as this dims on and off when unlocking and locking) with the use of a relay or resistor so they only work one way meaning the interior lights don't come on when you put your sidelights on.

Mine used to work like this although when the new alarm was fitted the interior lights don't dim as they would when locking with the key so they only dim off now when I lock the car and dim on when I open the door, not unlock the car.
