Re: HELP
This is what is really great about this Z forum.
Posters ask for help with a problem, and even our long standing members/admin don't post the usual "Use the search" , "this subject has been done to death" cr*p that you find with other forums.....
On here you usually get a link to the thread needed, rather than a sarcastic unhelpful reply.
Just one of the many reasons I am glad to be back on this Z3 forum, rather than being elsewhere in a Z4.
I just think that the helpful nature and community spirit on here sometimes doesn't get the recognition it really deserves.

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
Re: HELP
I wholeheartedly agree with your comments Gookah, how things change, that's precisely why I looked elsewhere. When I first joined this forum that is exactly the response I received on my first posting of a question. How is a new member supposed to know otherwise? When I joined another forum I never experienced that attitude at all up to now. Good to see some things and perhaps some one?, has changed.

Re: HELP
I have to say I agree too... Especially considering the amount of advise I have had from many people including gookah via email, text and phone calls.
... Sure everything is there if you look for it but personally, my experience is that I googled a few issues and it always led me to this site. I fixed my issues and then started to search the stock exchange forum... Finally I got hooked and started reading all the various threads. Many great gems; great ideas; great people....
We were all naive to these little cars once, I certainly still am about so much but I know I'll find all the help I need from here

Re: HELP
Here here!! Prime example, I was on the Derbyshire cruise last weekend and since getting the car painted the boot lid keeps popping open when being driven. I was having a look at it when one of the forum guys walked over to see what was up, I told him, he trotted off to his car, had a look at it and came back. "Try this" he says, so I did.
It didn't work and is still popping open but my point is, someone I'd never met before was happy to help. Thanks Billz!
Cheers

Re: HELP
You don't need to remove the door card to remove the mirror base.
If you don't want to twist the mirror to open the allen screws - you can alternatively remove the mirror glass from its clips - and proceed from there.
Personally, I have a pet hate about removing the door cards.

You sou can remove the mirror glass and start from there instead of twisting the mirror to expose the allen keys. I have looked at various knowledge section but cannot see how to do this. Am I missing something here?

Re: Removal of Z3 Mirror
It's a bit fiddly the first time you do it - but it's quite straightforward.
In the four corners of the mirror there are prongs (two teeth each) that catch onto 4 pegs on the mirror motor.
Push the mirror upwards and look through the crack from underneath (best at night with a flashlight first time) and pry them apart one prong at a time while pulling it away.
I use a flat screwdriver or a ice lolly stick.
