Tire sizes and recommendations

The 2001 2.2i comes with 225x50x16 wheels and I am thinking of changing this to 225x65x16. Why?

1. to give the car a couple of cm lift
2. increase side wall to make the steering a bit lighter with more 'give' or free play
3. may assist with tramlining which can happen on bumpy or irregular surfaces
4. Gives me options for purchasing tires as the 50s are rare and more expensive

So, had anyone done this before and what was the result. Did it proportionally affect the looks of the car?

Likely your insurance would be invalid too, in the event of an accident etc…..

I would stick with standard size but would seek to identify a make of tyre that suits the Z3's dynamics. Sure there are a number of threads on here covering the subject.
