Carpet overmats

Post by lightning »

Can somebody recommend a good set of overmats?

There are plenty on ebay at around £20 but are they any good? Ideally l would kike them to have the plastic screw fixings like the OE ones.

.......you can use the fittings off your old mats...they can be popped open and removed. You'll need to cut a small hole in the new mats to fit them,,,

I bought a set of the Exclusive ones from here 2 years ago, they're still as good as the day I bought them, really high quality. Like Southernboy says you just have to remove the plastic fixing circles from the originals and stretch them into the holes in the new mats, and then they fit just like the OEM ones.

I don't have the originals.

It clearly had them, as the carpets are perfect, but the last owner must have taken them out.

I can send them with his package and he can fwd on to you if you want them. You may have to buy him a pint for the postage...?? If you need black ones, you may be able to give them a coat of black plastic spray paint... Best let me know today though so I can pop them into the packet...

I used my OEM mats as a template, but I extended the passenger section so it now goes all the way up to just under the glovebox trim, and also extended the back so it goes all the way to the seat runners... did the same on the driver side, with the cutout for the accelerator and other bits... Had the edges trimmed with a canvas type material and stitched on...
Bought the carpet material from www.lovemycar.co.za".... they did the finishing and stitched a rubber heel pad into place also... The OEM clips were a breeze, small round hole, fit and clip...

Good news!

I looked in the history and a previous owner bought a set from a company called Motormec, back in 2005.
I called them, and they are BMW parts suppliers, but stopped selling mat sets two years ago. The guy said they had one NOS Z3 set left in anthracite, which l could have for £36.

They arrived today, and are original BMW manufacture, which is even better.
