Strange thing.
Strange thing.
Occasionally I've had the rough running on start up with my M44 that many others have reported. I've tried all the fixes including thinner oil but the problem always came back. Some time ago I revved the engine to to 2500'ish and then turned the key off. Don't ask me why - I just did. The next day when I started the car it was instant and very smooth. Since then I have used the same technique and I've never had the rough idling once. It's about 9 months now since I first tried it and not a single failure. I know it's not really a fix but it may point to what really causes this peculiar problem.
