Anyone recognise the part in the link please? A pound coin is included to show scale. I have recently replaced the "air flow hoses" and I think that I may have knocked this off accidentally.

I'm not 100% certain but I think it's from behind the headlamp, something to do with venting the headlamp unit

Yep sits at the back of the headlamps and is indeed for ventilation and the shape avoid water to come in.
