LIST YOUR REAR END HERE...
As you all know, there's been endless posts on the "rear end rattle"
So, to make it easy for any newbie or oldie who finds themselves needing direction, I think it might be useful to create a list of all the rattles members have had and resolved. The idea is to list each cause once only, so if your rattle cause has already been listed, don't add to the list... once the post has had a chance to collect all the different issues causing the rattle and a brief description of the remedy, perhaps the post can be edited and added to the knowledge base for any future reference requirements.

Good idea.
Mine have been:
Spare wheel holder/bracket bolts needing tightening.
Exhaust mount (near gearbox, sounded like it was from the rear though).

Actually I find that screaming aside, the wife on the rack solves the weight/vibration damper problem very well.

Re: LIST YOUR REAR END HERE...
A bit OT but how does one check if the rear top mounts are noisy - drive with carpet out and check or can it be done when stationery?
Re: LIST YOUR REAR END HERE...
If you manage to drive with a finger on the mount you will feel the clicking
Re: LIST YOUR REAR END HERE...
If I pull that off I need to make a video!BonBon wrote:If you manage to drive with a finger on the mount you will feel the clicking
Is it a loud click/rattle. I can hear something starting that wasn't there before but I think it might be the struts rattling in the shocks (the fronts were diagnosed as that and sounds similar but close obviously, apparently can happen on coil overs, not sure if that can happen on normal shocks too?).

Rear exhaust bracket, four spot welds had given up so plate had come away from body work and was flapping about. Fixed by two bolts, easier than welding as difficult to get to.
