I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

A giant bubble making machine?
The faster you go, the bigger the bubbles from the roll hoops?

The moment you have all (/some have) been waiting waiting for....

Since fitting my car with hoops and acquiring a mesh wind deflector nearly a year ago, I have always hated the fact that I have to hide my beautiful hoops in order prevent 'bad wind' in the cockpit ;) I have also hated the idea of fitting one Perspex sheet to the back or front of the hoops, as this would potentially mean loss of access to the rear storage compartment, and make the hoops seem like leaning posts.

So I went about designing my own wind deflector, and pictures below show just the first parts of it.

I wanted a deflector that looks modern and has a removable centre partition, made from mesh, that is independent to the rest. BUT, and most importantly, it mustn't hide the hoops or make it look like the hoops are only there to support the deflectors. I wanted the hoops to be appreciated as their own entity, and my deflector to float effortlessly inside and between the hoops.

So, finally, here is the first part of the prototype (and I'm sharing it with you for feedback, please) - Mk. 1 Roll Hoop Inserts.

Let me know what you guys think!
I will be designing the mesh wind deflector to fit between the two hoops, that will potentially be attached to (and removable from) these Perspex inserts, but free from the hoops. More thought is required on this part though.

As a side note - the pictures below are just of a dry-fit. When correctly fitted the brackets will be completely 'snug'

TIA
David

P.S. - Yes, my car interior is still 'work in progress' :D

Looks really good - I do wonder whether clear prespex would be better, though, as it would serve to highlight the roll hoops (your main intention) whereas smoked perspex could all blend into the hoops.

That's a very good point Blade, it is something I considered, but decided to go with smoked perspex so that it adds some continuity to the mesh middle part, once that has been completed.
