I've been on the lookout for some replacement seats (beige, heated leather) and they seem to be as common as hen's teeth. I've seen the ones currently on fleabay and my current driver's seat is better than the one in the auction!
But it's got me thinking - do other BMW seats fit Z3s? Would E36 coupe fit?
Replacement seats
Re: Replacement seats
Reckon I'll keep looking for some Z3 ones then....
Re: Replacement seats
I believe from previous forum posts that the Z3 seats are specific to the car and have in-built roll protection - hence the roll hoops being an option on the non M cars. Having lifted mine out of the car to fit new seatbelt guides and bushes, I can vouch for their extreme weight and massive internal steel structure.
Re: Replacement seats
Not so sure about roll over protection from the seat.
Once you separate the seat from the base it pretty light, the weight is all in the base and motors, not much higher up.
The seats out of our galaxy with in built boosters - those are heavy lucky they have handles!

Re: Replacement seats
My understanding is that the seats were designed to provide at least some rollover protection - this is why the headrest part is fixed and not adjustable. The very early cars cannot have rollhoops retrofitted, as they lack the mounting points on the chassis.
