Cheap OEM badges

Post by Alan W »

Spotted these on eBay and have just ordered one for my boot because I think they are £20 odd from the main dealers:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine-B ... 6016.l4276

82mm part no 51148132375 which I think does both the bonnet and boot

Anyone know a good way of teasing them out without scratching the paintwork?

I got a cheap one (£3.99) and the prongs were not aligned with the badge, so it was on the p1$$ when it was on the car.

It was worth the money  .

I changed mine the other day, the only way really is to use a knife or a plastic scraper with a cloth to cover the paintwork, The Bonnet badge was a real pain to get off

4 x wheels 58mm stick on for wheel style 64.

The bonnet badge will remove easily by pushing the exposed ends of the prongs visible on the bonnet underside. Derby main dealer Statstones have an offer on all 4 badges for £37.99 I think it was. This was last Thursday when I was in ordering an aerial grommet for £5.79, half the Ebay price. Don't know if it's a nationwide offer. Hope this helps.

For the boot, I used an old matalan credit card sized thingy-mi-Bob.
I wedged it under the badge as far as it would go. Then I used a plastic pry bar for leverage....the credit card protects the paint.

I second the pushing of the pins from the rear on the bonnet badge.

I took the gills off and used a combination of the two methods above to get those off.

The steering wheel badge on my m-tech steering wheel was metal and had 3 metal tabs set into the steering wheel....be careful pulling this off as you can deform or damage the centre of the steering wheel. If I was to do the steering wheel again knowing this, I would've just stuck the new badge over the old one
Designed or not designed, that is the question.

I normally check the dealer price for small items as a lot of the time they are cheaper.
When I was looking for the cover for the cruise control it was cheaper buying new than second hand off eBay!

I just got a quote from my dealer. He pays about 75 per badge and can sell to me for 80. I bet you can get them cheaper from a dealer in England.
