Trunck doesn't close

Post by warhammer23 »

Hello.
Just got a Z3 and i have this issue.
I can't close the trunck with the central locking (locking manually via the driver's side) and not even if i use the key in the lock itself.

Turn it both ways nothing happens and i am afraid to push it further and break because it is my only key for now.

I hear clicks so the actuator is working and i can see it move when i use the central locking (i removed the plastic shields so i can see the lock mechanism in the trunk)

But i don't know why it isn't closing in any way.

I presume the lock itself is broken - thats why it doesn't work with the key?

And if i want to order one online, where can i do it?

Thank you.

From memory there is a rod that connects the lock/button (the bit with the keyhole) to the latch (the bit that actually holds the boot closed). The rod can become disconnected and so neither the key nor the central locking will lock the boot/trunk.

See: http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopi ... ot+and+rod

Problem solved.

It was the key lock hub bracket.
It had so much crap inside of he mechanism, it won't retract 100% , and for just 1-2 mm being stuck , everything was blocked - that's why no manual override as well.

Removed it, took it apart, cleaned and greased.
Now it works perfectly.
Very happy.
