bracket identification

Post by unclebob »

Hi , I replaced my crankcase breather unit and hose today and noticed behind the engine a bracket which was attached to some form of electrical unit and had a flange with hole that looked like it should be bolted somewhere .Can anyone tell me what this is ? thanks. Sorry for my ignorance I'm no mechanic I just like to do what I can with instructions from this forum and the internet in general.
Trying to post pic but have a message saying board attachment quota has been reached?
The bracket has a red plastic/rubber cap on one end if that's any help.

To upload a picture goto http://imgur.com/ and then once it's uploaded there's an option for Copy BBCode link which you can post here.

The description doesn't sound like anything I've seen on my car, can you have a closer look and see if there's a part number? Almost all BMW parts have a part number embossed on them, if it does you can search for it on RealOEM. This link is for a 2.8 but you can click Select another car depending on which engine you've got (although they share most parts) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partsearch.d ... spid=48082

Whoops posted at the same time as you Robert - it's probably worth updating the how to post a picture guide to use imgur.com instead, it's way easier and is pretty much the standard for image hosting for forum posts these days. It also doesn't require any signup to use.
