Happiness is a well kept Z3 and preferably running with the hood down - weather permitting.

fitted and supplied i believe.... i bought the car and had an invoice for the roof, only just bought the car but it was done about 2 years ago, i did speak to them about 2 weeks ago, they are still in business. I was enquiring about waterproofing the roof with waterproofer and they recommended Fabsil so i did that a few weeks ago, its not leaking just i want to preserve the roofs appearance and it works great..

heres a youtube of my roof after it has been fabsilled...

Fabsil is amazing and was/is much in favour with tent reproofing and general outdoor clothing ,trousers hats, caps etc.
I bought the Renovo kit for cleaning, recolouring and reproofing my Z3 but never actually used it. I will come-in if/when the hood needs doing on my very very recent Z3 replacement - a rather nice 59,000 miles, two owners from new (mother & daughter) Series 3 325 Ci Auto Convertible.

Good Lord that is/was give away even then - they are that just for supply only and with that on-top as a fitting charge. Indeed Paul at The Soft Top Shop at Stockport are about the most competitive up here in the North West and they were looking at £630 - £650 for supplied and fitted at their premises and currently with a 7+ week lead time.

I know we have had this conversation already but you are in stockport and I am in manchester. Save yourself 200-300 quid and take a day and drive to croydon. His work is great and for 395 its a no brainer

Hi bertiejaffa. I have actually and very very sadly let my Z3 go - complete with hardtop/trolley and all accessories,'M' Sport staggered wheels and almost new tyres - I posted on that a couple of weeks back by-way of explaining why I would not be at the Just Jane event.
Whilst I am relatively close to Stockport and the more obvious advantages of travelling time, fuel costs and the very early start and possibly a rather late return home in going much further afield for what would be a marginal saving when all things are considered - Paul would be my choice.
I have visited his workshop and was committed to having a new (Blue) hood from him if my car did not sell/PX at sensible money - a rather nice 2002 (02) 59,000 miles 3 series 325 Ci Auto came available locally and I have now got that.

Has the price gone upto £395 now? Mine cost £325 a few years ago, but still that is very cheap for the quality and workmanship.

I popped into see Jack Smith last year. I wanted him to drop a non-OEM replacement screen in. But he said no as they were all cr*p. To take the roof off and machine a new window in was £130. He then said but once you go to that length you might as well have a new roof for £280.

Generally speaking he has very good reviews (I've seen 1 or 2 about small faults). But he does get booked up months in advance. You'll also howl with laughter (or maybe not) about leaving your pride and joy in a back street in central Swansea  Fortunately, having lived here for 10 years I'm very trusting :) The only reason I didn't use him was I felt the roof on the car, being original and serviceable was worth keeping and I didn't want a sewed in rear window.

2001 Z3 2.2 Topaz Blue (Trudy) - Keeper rebuilt from a write-off
2002 Z3 2.2 Titan Silver (Cookies) - Keeper rebuilt having been bought with a seized engine
2002 Z3 3.0 Sapphire Black (Peanut) - Keeper awaiting rebuilding having been bought as an abandoned project
Plus Willy, Kodak & Maycee - All 2.2 Sport projects. Yes, 6 is a lot of Z3s :)
Always happy to try and help with spares :)

Resurrection of an old post!
Have just put a crack in rear screen and unfortunately it’s not a zip in one. Also hood is pretty poor overall so time for a new one but wondering if any recommendations where to get a replacement hood?
Am down in Cornwall so not sure where the nearest fitter would be but there is one in Ivybridge who just fits but I need to buy the hood from somewhere.
Seems to be several online suppliers but wondered if any one had experience of the quality of any of the online suppliers?
Thanks
Gareth

I bought on the internet 10 years ago, still looking great, fitting like the origin. The most important thing is to check that you get the best fabriks, Twilfast, in Germany named Sonnenland. That is equal to best material keeping color and shape for many years.
But I can tell you, when asking for price, you will be shocked! It has increased in price a lot.
