I need help.
The fuel gauge on my 1999 Z3 show empty with the amber light displaying. The fuel tank is far from empty. Has anyone else had this problem?
Adding fuel does not change the reading at all. Any recommendations on what to do first before ripping the thing apart?

Re: Fuel gauge fault Z3 1999
It's a very common thing, if you do a search you'll find lots of info.
STP petrol treatment

worked for me a few years back and hasn't done it since. Worth a go for around a fiver and will do your fuel system good as well.
Best also to stick to high octane fuel in the future.

Re: Fuel gauge fault Z3 1999
As Dave says it is quite a common issue, build up of crud on the electrical circuitry inside the tank stops the gauge from working, the STP treatment cleans this up.
