Fuel capacity.

Post by Rafolian »

Hi all, what should the Z3 fuel tank hold in real terms?
I normally put €20 in each time, but today the light came on and decided to put €50 in but at 48 it was struggling and managed to squeeze €49.32 up to the neck of the filler. Working it out @ €1.15/ litre that is approx only 10.8 gallons!
I knew Z3's had small tanks, but less than 11 gallons?

50 litre tank springs to mind so that is just under 11 gallons, you were not far off.

That's over 300 mile range though, more if you drive carefully.

51 litres / 11.2 gallons. My light always comes on with about 45 litres used.

That'll differ a bit from car to car. I'd suggest you fill the tank, run the car until the light comes on and then refill it. From that you can work out how much fuel you have left when your light comes on.

Yep, definitely varies. With my first fuel pump/sender, the gauge would stay on full and not start to move until after 70+ steady miles, now it moves off full at 45miles, so when the light comes on it has a lot more fuel than previously.
