Problem opening door with key.

Post by thompy93 »

Hi

Recently ive had a struggle opening the door on the drivers side and boot. To get it open i have to put the key all the way in, then 2-3mm back to MAYBE get it open. Its also easier to lock it, than open it. The boot lock just seems stiff for some reason. The passenger side seems unaffected and the problem started last week. Tried using lock oil, but only minimal success. Spare key opens all doors easily and starts the car. Any ideas? Thought of getting a blank key from the bay, but if I got it right, I wont be able to start the car, only lock/unlock?

Its only been down to 7 degrees celcius(44 fahr) here at night, so i guess that shouldnt make the locks stuck. :head:

If you buy a blank key from eBay you can just swap the internals over to the new one - the back pops off that style of key and you should be able to remove the immobiliser transponder and put it in the new key (I've never removed it but it looks like it's removable).

Here's the transponder:
