Alternative Jacking Points?

Post by Lancsbob »

I have removed the black plastic jacking points while i remove
the sills to attend to cleaning them out & corrosion treatment and want
to know if there are aternative places to position a trolly
jack to raise the car.
By the way if you havn't done it yet i recommend removing
the front plastic inner wheel arch even if its just to clean
it out its amazing how much damp soil/leaves are hideing
behind there corroding your lovely bodywork..!
Not got to the rear one yet. :(

You can raise the back by jacking under the diff (but NOT the diff cover!). You can jack the front in lots of places. You'll probably need to drive onto a wooden plank or two to get the jack under.

Was thinking more of along the side so as to get both side
wheels off.

theres nowhere else on the side - as BR says - use the Diff (not the cover) to jack up the rear and use the front strut to jack up the front
Here come the girls.....

The sill covers yo are trying to remove cover the main sill running from front to rear, with a piece of wood on a trolley jack you can jack at almost any point along this sill, jus do not jack on the cover itself. The pic below shows what is behind the sill cover ( you may not have as much vegitaion behind yours though  ).

The trick is not to go too far under the car and jack on the floor pan.

Just remember that if you use any point other than the jacking point you may not be able to open/close the doors
