Post by trebor namron »

Has anyone done this themselves?
Are there any third party replacement products?
Anything to help me not go to the Stealer £116 + two hours fitting

HI

Re replacement windows, can get hold of one for about £100 and it is possible to fit yourself with fittings suppied..but could be a struggle...thats why BMW allow 2 hours but can be less can be more..depends on roof, zip etc

Cheers and good luck

There's also quite a nice illustrated guide at:

It doesn't look TOO stressful....

I managed to put a big split in my rear window a few weeks ago. I was putting a bag of shopping containing a 4-pint plastic milk bottle (fairly gently) onto the rear shelf when I heard an odd noise.. :?

I took a look & sure enough, there was a lovely two inch crack in the window, right in the middle. It was very cold, I suppose the plastic had just got very brittle & it didn't take much to crack it..

I've coughed up the ?116 to my local dealer and have a new rear window sat in the cellar, just waiting for a nice dry warm day before I attempt the changeover. I can't wait to get rid of the sight of a sellotaped crack from the view in my rear view mirror.....

I split my rear screen a few months ago cleaning it on a cold morning. Go to soft tops near Crystal Palace. £170 all in and done in an hour. BMW talk nonsense, 2 hrs my arxxe.
