Radio Script Fix

Post by Lancsbob »

This radio is date stamped 2004 so must be a replacement radio.

1st Remove radio.

Raise multipin clamp to unplug the connection. Its the black square @ rear left. The higher you raise it the more it pulls plug out.
Also unplug aerial.

Remove the Volume/On Off button. It just pulls off.

Now push in the 4 locking tags that hold the front on & pull off front.

On mine the multi pin plug had torn off leaving the plug connected. The soldering is very weak. How they expected it to stay on heaven knows.

Now this is the hard part, you have to resolder the pins back onto the board. I held with longnose pliars & soldered them but be carefull as one of mine
disappeared across the kitchen never to be found but luckily it still works OK

Its difficult lining up the pins to replace the black retaining block.

Or you could just go & get a modern one...!

Thanks for that Bob. Great to see repairs being completed rather than just throwing things away.

Excellent stuff.

I may need to do this at some time as my screen dulls-out occasionally.

Great little fix, you could you use the block as a holder for the pins you will not burn your hands and try will also line up.

I had the same on mine and threw it away, because I have sausage fingers with the steadiness of a drunken man with parkinsons disease, and a soldering iron that may as well be a heated spade

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..
