Boot carpet

Post by Alan W »

Since changing the head hit and removing the cd changer that 'bump' on the boot carpet has really annoyed me, more so now l've bought a new spacesaver and tyre which l now keep in the boot. Been on the lookout for a non bump set of carpets for ages and they seem very rare and overpriced.. so l was really happy to win an immaculate full set (back and both side) on ebay for £27!! Just fitted them and in a little car where space is a premium l am really pleased with the result!!

Loads more room - Maybe some velcro would be good for the top edge where it looks to have stretched to make it tight against the bodywork

Looks good.... Instead of velcro which has a habit of eventually coming away, a couple of extra push in clips and a correct size drill bit will sort the wavy edge...

Didn't realise you could remove the bump thats under the carpet, whats it made of
& is it difficult.Must say the right carpet makes a big difference.
So were all cars not fitted with a CD changer had carpet without the hump &
are all years the same?

There's just a bolted-in bracket that supports the cd player.

When I bought my Z3 in April 1999, the CD changer housing had just been introduced as standard and I had the section of boot liner from the previous year's model fitted before I took delivery because I saw that it would be a problem fitting my Samsonite hard shell suitcase in the boot. I still have the original piece of boot lining stashed away in my loft, along with the soft-top cover which I have never used.
