I've got a Z3 3.0 Sport (previously l had a 2.8) and my brother has a Z4 3.0.

The Z3 has achieved desirable status as it's got classic roadster looks and BMW build quality, plus it's more exclusive than an MX 5.
The Z4 while competent is just another modern car and (in my opinion) there is just no passion in it. On paper it's better in every way than a Z3, but as l said elsewhere on this forum, that does not always make for a better car.

Larger engined variants of the Z3 in particular are a great place to be for a long drive, and if you get the Sport version the handling is pretty decent as well.

The Z4 is difficult to fault, but given the choice both of us would take the Z3.

The Z3 look has aged very well and it is arguably a better looking car than the earlier Z4s. However, if I was looking for a two-seater M car to enjoy and use (as opposed to an investment) I would plump for the newer and more refined Z4M. :)

Investments are bought at the bottom of the market  .

A Z3M is like a Z1. If you want it as an investment, you are too late. You will make money, just not enough to call it an investment.

Z4Ms are still dropping in price (but not value). I predict that in five to ten years, the same will happen to them as happened to the Z3M - including coupe v. convertible values.

I agree, the Z4M is the last of the s54 engined 2 seater M models.
another 10 years time and it will be sought after, if you can wait that long

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

In 10 years time autonomous drive cars will be the "norm" - you may only be able to drive your car on a track in the future - and you're likely to be penalised a heavy pollution tax if you do drive it...

Missed the boat on Z8s as well. They were £30k at the bottom of the market.
