Tyres.
Hola all! Anyone here have any feedback on Falken Ze914 tyres on a 2.8? I need to replace the Falken 452's which were fitted new just before I bought the car four and a half years ago. There is still plenty of tread left (have only done 10k miles), but all four sidewalls are cracked (sun damage?). Been searching online for replacements, and the ze914 looks a good bet price/feedback wise. Any info mucho appreciated!

Re: Tyres.
Falkens get good reviews from here.
Personally I am PZERO fan and used tyres on the drive when I replaced all 4 of mine earlier this year as they had a discount for a full set and 0% interest free over 12 months - was a no brainer.

Re: Tyres.
just buy a brand youve heard of...
the expensive brands are just expensive, not better.
they own the cheaper brands too...... if you was an expensive brand, youd want a cheap brand too so you covered all the market wouldnt you?

Re: Tyres.
Big fan of Uniroyal Rainsports. Both for grip and price. I only drive the car for fun so couldn't comment on noise etc, but grip in ever changing conditions is excellent.
I too had 452s on my 6 series, they were cracking but for me, not as good as the rainsports.
Go to tyreleader.co.uk for the best price then show your local fitter / supplier to get them to match

I had 914s on my 2.8 and was impressed with them. Great all round tyre and good in wet weather. Only thing to watch is the "running in" period. I found it needed about 500 miles before they lost the slippy stuff off them. I`d buy again but I`ve got a staggered set up on my 3.0and they don`t do both sizes.
Re: Tyres.
Mine are staggered too, 225/45 front and 245/40 rear, and have priced up 914's.
Re: Tyres.
That's interesting, when I looked I couldn't find any for the rear. Not ready for them till next year so I'll do another search then. Who supplied them for you?Rafolian wrote:Mine are staggered too, 225/45 front and 245/40 rear, and have priced up 914's.

Re: Tyres.
Reasonable comment - I bought 4 Barams for my 2.0l Z3 a couple of years ago - they are made by continental and they were (and still are) brilliant tyres, no tramlining and perfect grip.4wheels wrote:just buy a brand youve heard of...

Re: Tyres.
Continental sport contact 5 for me all round.
Excellent all round tyre and best stopping in the wet by far.
Got mine from Mytyres.co.uk. 17" staggered too the set cost about £380 plus shipping.
Need two for rear next year they have lasted 3 years and 16,000 miles still have 3mm on. Fronts are hardly worn.
Find Pirellis tramline and have never used budget brands. Its all that holds you and your partner onto the road and I will not compomise over safety.
If you want Continental quality but not the price look at Kumho. Its made by Conti.........

Re: Tyres.
Ordered ZE914's from fleabay, 225 fronts £131 inc postage to Spain, 245 rears £160 plus £25 postage. 368 euros, as opposed to 496 euros which was my cheapest quote here, happy days!

Re: Tyres.
Didn't want to start a new thread.
I have 9.5j 18"s all around ET38.
Don't know what brand or model for the rim.
Anyway i put 265/35/18 on the back and fit perfectly. Had 225/40/18 when i got it. Too stretched out.

The same tires on the front 225/40/18 but i need to change them as well, old and worn out.
Noticed some inner warn maybe from bad alignment in the past.
Did the alignment some time ago and saw some scrub marks on the inner arches like the tire could be touching ? Or it did a long time ago before the alignment?
I am fiddling around with this tire calculator because i would also like a little wider on the front because it is still too stretched for the rim but of course don't want to rub.
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wheel1 ... 0mm&sr=0mm
Was looking at 245/35 and they would decrees the total diameter and only 10 mm wider. Will this work or should just to a tire shop and they should measure and know for sure?
Thank you.
