New Hardtop

Post by Z3crazy »

Hi Guy's (and gal's),

So, Saturday i had a 150 mile round trip to get the hard top fitted. First the fitting kit That took ages, there's just enough room for an infants fingers.
Anyway, all in all it was an hours worth of fun!!
On the way back the roof got the ultimate test when i got a massive downpour on the motorway. Completly dry, no leaks, Happy Days !!

Yeah, i'm quite chuffed. The lines just fit and make it sexier than it was. The view through the rear window is so much better and saves craning your neck to see whats in your blind spot.

Haven't managed to do the wiring for the heated rear screen, but i'll get round to that next year.

Dave.

Looks very nice. These little cars look great with their hard top on. They almost look like another version of BMW. The tops are also nicely made with a nice insulated lining :)

Unfortunately the car I'm buying has had the hardtop sold on separately.
Might look for one next year.

I must have looked at dozens of Z3's during my search for a nice one, only 2 were offered with a hard top and they were ropey cars anyway.

Then you have to look for one in the right colour that hasn't faded, source out a fitting kit with all the bits coz they all miss something, usually the mounting gauges or mounting hole covers.

And finally...... get it on the &*$% car (Help from a small child to get the bolts started ? There's no room!!!! I had to get the softtop strut out)

But.... when it's on, the car is just orgasmic

The Z3 is a stunning car... the hard top gives it a very different look for winter... I love putting my hardtop on in late Autumn and I enjoy it all Winter and then I love that first run out with it off and the roof down in Spring... This is year 5 for me and I cant ever see me changing
Here come the girls.....
