Use the Search button before posting newbie questions about hard tops and fitting kits, footwell speaker amps, water in the boot, hood maintainance and those horrific angel eyes. We get like 10 threads a week on the same subject, it's obvious that you haven't searched.

If you have one, it has to work. Not sure about the brightness..Paul.Stuhlfelder wrote:Is the 3rd light part of the MOT though?

All and any brake lights fitted must work.
Linear brake lights such as the boot one or any consisting of seperate lamps must have at least more than a third working, I'd guess the sticker covers more than a third... so I would of failed it.
I'm out of the game now, so things may have moved on, in fact they have with the MOT now PC based, which would have been a pleasure in my time.
I can remember having to write MOT tickets on obvoius ringers because there was no reasonable reason to fail or not give the ticket
