Uber Styling's Z3 Revealed
Uber Styling's Z3 Revealed
Was at Max Power Live yesterday and would just like you to see what Uber Styling have done to a Z3. It was revealed for the first time yesterday.
They apparently have spent £30k (yes thirty thousand pounds) on this car. Cant tell you 100% whats in it etc, but piccies speak for themselves!
*Disclaimer - please do not vent your anger at me, I am just the messenger *

You means theres a Zed in the first few pictures aswell...
Not sure I could live with that interior, but then again its not been done to live with its been done as an advertising piece...
Looking at the interior (very TVR like) you can see alot of time has been spent on the finish... as an Item- stunning, as a Z3
Whats brought on the sudden surge of modded Z3's ???
I was driving past the area and the roads were interesting to say the least... and how many "chav'ed up motors" do you think tried it on
I nearly turned round and went cruising past again, I had so much fun... after all mines only a hairdressers Boxster

I like the split colour on the bonnet.
Interior looks like good work but they should have chosen either a less garish colour or a second colour to soften it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the original car was one of the pre-facelift 4 cylinders (engine & arches). just hope one of those bright red bits is a turbo.

Convert to the church of "nice shiny engine bay"
All hail the shiny engine bay.
All hail the shiny engine bay.
I'd say that the name of the company pretty much says it all - Über-Tuning. Could as well be über-doing. As the old saying goes; "it's okay to be ugly but you're overdoing it!"
Price. When you can get an old 4-cylinder zed for €6-7k, the nova boys/girls and the like start buying them and do their nova-magic on the poor zeds instead. I wish even the cheapest zeds would have never gone below €20k. Such a thing would drastically reduce these "tuning" monstrocities, as the maxpower-effort would go towards the poor vehicles that can be had in the said price range.garyw wrote:Whats brought on the sudden surge of modded Z3's ???
I dont think money comes into it. They may have bought it for £7k or whatever they paid for it - but they spent over £30k doing it up. Original price doesnt come it to it - its the overall spend that makes a Max Power car.
There was a TVR at the show - well it was originally - same again - £30k spent and it looks like something from space.
Oh and dont quote me on this, but i remember Uber Tuning saying that it was originally a 2.8 but by dropping "something" into the engine bay they have turned it into 3.4 - like i said dont quote me. But all the details are apparently gonna be featured in a forthcoming Performance BMW mag.

Hmmm...
Describing this all as Styling seems a Paradox to me

It just goes to show that money and a lack of taste and wit don't really make for successful modification:
1. The spoilers render the car useless for anything except standing still.
2. The unprotected door speaker wouldn't last two days of me getting in and out of the car.
3. The dials on the passenger side are effectively useless.
4. Why the silver plastic around the bottom of the gearknob?
5. The display above the instrument pod looks out of place and could be difficult to read.
6. All that time and effort, and there's still a wire hanging down from the dash.
7. Two big holes in the bonnet ... what's protecting the rad?

A bit like the Z1, then?flyingalexf68 wrote:It's obviously not for the road. Just to show what the company can do. It's like those fantastic concept cars. Not for production. Just to show ideas for the future products.

It's a facelift model going off the humped rear arches, probably a 2.8 by the looks of the engine.Tourniquet wrote:

It's difficult to tell from the pictures but from the way the intake is doubled up it looks like it could be supercharged.

A bit. I really do think the doors should have been kept for all Zed models. By the way do you ever have problems with the doors? I'd say they'd be expensive to fix.spokey wrote:A bit like the Z1, then?flyingalexf68 wrote:It's obviously not for the road. Just to show what the company can do. I have no idea ... I've not had any problems, but I do get them checked and lubed from time to time.flyingalexf68 wrote:By the way do you ever have problems with the doors? I'd say they'd be expensive to fix.

There's a nice Meguiars sticker in the rear window too. (or it looks that way in Picture 6!)DavidM wrote:<trying to find something nice to say /> it's been polished up nicely!

Nope, way OTT. I saw the first pic and thought nice girls!
No seriously I thought, ok, not as bad as our Louis Vutton friend, though I don't understnad why they've taken out the kidney grills, but anyway the back of the car and that spoiler and rear lights looks naf. the interior would have been ok if it was two toned or at least not in that bright red. In fact I'd say the interior looks quite cheap and the orginal interior looks better and more expensive if you know what I mean. This one looks too pvc/plastic for my liking and the dials look like something out of a Ford KA!

Im not too keen myself either.
Respect has to be given for the amount of work and planning though.
Neil Chapman always produces very outlandish cars, do you remember his supercharged 540?
Lots of the additions are "unnecessary", but that doenst mean they shouldnt be carried out. The car is a show car, not a daily driven, built purely as an expression of someones personality.
Shame he doesnt have the angel eyes on in any of the pics (I did those!!)
Ben.

As a concept car, it probably doesn't need a heater. Removing the compnents will make the car lighter and therefore faster.Paul.Stuhlfelder wrote: heater controls (I wonder where they are on this car?)
